Eibsee, Germany

The Eibsee Loop Trail is only 4.3 miles (6.9 kilometers) long. There’s barely any elevation gains.

But it took me nearly 3 hours to walk it.

Because there are magnificents view every step of the way!

Such as this small hidden lake;

The near perfect reflection of the surrounding peaks;

And the emerald colour of the water

accentuated under late afternoon sun

By the time I got to the Eibsee train station, there was a long queue. Obviously everyone’s out on this brilliant Monday. I can’t imagine what it would be like during the summer peak season.

Needless to say, I didn’t get back to Oberammergau until late. Oh well, at least I didn’t have to worry about where to go for food. Most restaurants are closed on Mondays.

  1. A beautiful series – and I’d be just like you in taking hours to walk the Eibsee Loop Trail, getting lost in all that magnificent scenery. There is always this feeling after reading and seeing photos of “what a great day it must have been.” 🙂
